The Club Championships (aka Annual Gala) are held annually in November. They have evolved since 2014 and now take place mainly over a single weekend but with 25m heats being held on a earlier weekend.
This is our biggest internal competition and is open to all swimmers aged 7 and over (as at 31st December in the year of the competition) who have been members for at least 3 months. The competition consists of 25m (7/8 and 9 year olds), 50m (10 and over) and 100m (open) races in all strokes.
Heats are swum as heat declared winners with the fastest 5 swimmers in each event progressing to the championship final. If there are 10 legal swims in any event the swimmers placed 6th -10th will compete in a B-final during the finals weekend. The B-finals are an important way of allowing more swimmers to compete at the finals but B-final swimmers can't win the championship even if, on the day, they were to swim faster than the swimmers in the A-final.
All swimmers in the finals receive trophies and there are also trophies for the best boy and girl in junior and senior age groups.
